Adolf Moxter

Adolf Moxter (born October 3, 1929 in Frankfurt am Main ; † April 7, 2018 ) was a German economist , university professor and author .

Life

Adolf Moxter was Karl Hax's assistant from 1954 and obtained his doctorate in 1956 on the subject of basic methodological questions in business administration . He completed his habilitation in 1961 on the subject of The Influence of Disclosure Regulations on Entrepreneurial Behavior , and then held chairs at the Saarland University and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in the field of business administration. From 1965 until his retirement in 1997 , Moxter was director of the fiduciary seminar at Frankfurt University . During this time, among others, the later professors Wolfgang Ballwieser , Michael Hommel , Reinhard Schmidt , Jens Wüstemann and Dejan Engel-Ciric were trained under his aegis .

He has published since 1957 on business issues. In total there were over 200 publications in his academic career. His academic work focused on auditing , company valuation and accounting and income statements . He is considered the "old master of accounting" .

Honors

In 1992, Adolf Moxter received an honorary doctorate in business administration from the Universities of Trier and Munich (LMU). In 1999 he was honored with an honorary doctorate from the University of Leipzig for his "services to the dissemination and recognition of the knowledge of the subject in the neighboring sciences, especially in the field of law " .

He was an honorary member of the Institute of Auditors and an honorary member of the Frankfurter Wirtschaftswwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft e. V. (fwwg), the alumni organization of the Faculty of Business at Goethe University, Frankfurt (2011).
