Adolf Schulze (singer)

Adolf Schulze (born April 13, 1835 in Mannhagen near Mölln ; † April 1920 in Jena ; occasionally Adolph Schulze ) was a German singer ( baritone ) and music teacher .

Life

Adolf Schulze initially worked as an elementary teacher in Hamburg . There he received his first vocal training from Karl Voigt , which later took place in London under the singer and music teacher Manuel Garcia the Elder. J. was further deepened.

From 1864 he was again active as a concert and oratorio singer in Hamburg. Adolf Schulze also gave singing lessons there. In the mid-1870s he was appointed professor and conductor of the singing class at the Royal University of Music in Berlin . He was also a member of the Senate of the Prussian Academy of the Arts .

Adolf Schulze retired in autumn 1910, which he spent in Jena and where he died at the beginning of April 1920 shortly before he was 85 years old.
