Adolf Trittinger
Adolf Trittinger (born March 23, 1899 in Klosterneuburg , † December 25, 1971 in Melk , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian composer , choir director , organist , university teacher and rector of the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz .
Life
Adolf Trittinger was a choirboy at Lilienfeld Abbey . He graduated from the teacher training college in Krems an der Donau and from 1918 to 1921 the Vienna Music Academy, church music department. After a short period in Romania, he was choir director at Schlägl Abbey . From 1934 to 1938 he was organist and music director at St. Florian Monastery . From 1937 to 1943 he was a professor at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz, whose rector he was from 1939 to 1943. Due to his commitment to Paul Hindemith , he was prematurely deposed as rector by the National Socialists and transferred to Vöcklabruck as music officer by Gauleiter August Eigruber .
From 1946 Trittinger was music director at Melk Abbey and taught at the Abbey Gymnasium there, where he was also responsible for training boys' choirs.
In 1934 Trittinger joined the Fatherland Front and in 1938 the NSDAP .
