Adolph Alexander Noser

Adolph Alexander Noser SVD (born July 4, 1900 in Belleville , Illinois , † April 15, 1981 ) was an American Roman Catholic missionary and bishop .

Life

Noser joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on September 27, 1925 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on October 27, 1944 as Apostolic Prefect of Accra . With the elevation of Accra to the Apostolic Vicariate , Noser was appointed titular bishop of Capitolias on June 12, 1947 . He was ordained episcopal on August 22 of the same year by Samuel Cardinal Stritch , Archbishop of Chicago . Co- consecrators were William David O'Brien , auxiliary bishop of Chicago, and William Patrick O'Connor , bishop of Madison . On April 18, 1950, Pius XII. Accra to the diocese, on January 8, 1953 he appointed Noser as Vicar Apostolic of Alexishafen and titular bishop of Hierpiniana . From 1962 to 1965 he took part in the Second Vatican Council . The Apostolic Vicariate Alexishafen was on November 15, 1966 by Pope Paul VI. raised to the archbishopric of Madang and Noser its first archbishop. Paul VI accepted his age-related resignation on December 19, 1975.
