Adriaen Hanneman
Adriaen Hanneman (* around 1603 in The Hague , Netherlands ; buried July 11, 1671 there ) was a Dutch painter and draftsman from the Golden Age of his homeland.
Life
Hanneman came from a wealthy, Catholic patrician house. He studied drawing in his native town with Jan Anthoniszoon van Ravesteyn . In 1623 he went to England for 16 years, where he was known for his portraits of the royal family. During this time he got to know Anthony van Dyck , Cornelis Janssens van Ceulen and Daniel Mytens in England .
In 1640 Hanneman returned to The Hague, where he married the daughter of his teacher, Maria van Ravesteyn. In 1645 he became the chairman of the Guild of St. Luke in The Hague. In 1656 he was one of the apostates of the guild who formed their own association, the Confrérie Pictura . This brotherhood awarded him a silver cup for his services in 1666. Hanneman's students include Jeremias van der Eyden , Reinier de la Haye and others. The painter Govaert Flinck was influenced by his style.
After the death of his first wife, Hanneman married Alida Bezemer. The turmoil of the Rampjaar in 1669 forced him as a Catholic to sell more and more of his property for economic reasons. When he died, he left all his drawings and engravings to his student Simon du Parcq . His estate only yielded a sum of 1,000 guilders.
