Adriaen van Stalbemt , also Adriaan van Stalbent , (born June 12, 1580 in Antwerp , † September 21, 1662 there ) was a Flemish painter, etcher and draftsman.

life and work

After his apprenticeship, Stalbemt was appointed and accepted by the Lukasgilde of his hometown as "master" in 1610 .

Adriaen van Stalbemt died in 1662 at the age of 82, probably in Antwerp.

The artistic work of Stalbemt is entirely committed to the tradition of the older Flemish school. Some of his subjects (portraits, landscapes) can certainly be compared to that of Hendrik van Balen the Elder. Ä. be compared.

His works can be found in museums in Antwerp, Berlin , Dresden , Frankfurt am Main , Kassel and Schwerin . Up to 100,000 US dollars have been paid for his works in the art market.
