Adrian "Lifecoach" Koy (born October 28, 1981 in Kassel ) is a German e-athlete and streamer in the Hearthstone and Gwent discipline : The Witcher Card Game and Artifact from Valve Corporation . He was regularly at the top of the GosuGamers.net ranking and is therefore one of the best players in the world in this digital trading card game . Koy currently lives in Vienna (as of 2018).

Career

Koy played business simulations on the PC even in elementary school. Since 2006, Koy devoted himself to THNL Poker before joining Hearthstone. His online cash game winnings were US $ 8 million. By investing in stocks and real estate, he was able to significantly expand his wealth.

Koy started playing Hearthstone in the beta testing phase in late 2013. In 2014, he quickly gained great fame through initial success at Hearthstone. After about two months with the Lucky Draw team, in January 2015 he switched to the newly founded Nihilum team of WoW player Kungen. In the first half of 2015 in particular, he developed into one of the most dominant Hearthstone players worldwide, with several tournament successes, with first place in the ViaGame House Cup # 3 and the victory of his team in the Archon Team League among his greatest successes. In addition to his tournament success, Koy quickly made a name for himself with his analytical approach to the game, in which he considered as many opposing options as possible. He understands every game as an "overall concept" and thinks through many possible moves in advance. By January 2016, Koy had accumulated around $ 110,000 in cumulative prize money. Since the beginning of October 2015 he has been playing for the G2 Esports team . The first place in the fifth SeatStory Cup in Krefeld is one of his greatest solo successes in 2016 and since the Viagame House Cup # 3.

In the second half of 2016, Koy began to work closely with the Austrian Hearthstone community to give his adopted home Vienna more weight in the international Hearthstone scene.

Until the end of 2017, Koy mainly played and streamed the online trading card game Gwent: The Witcher Card Game . He won the Gwent tournament, the Gwent Challenger, with the highest prize money to date, with prize money of US $ 100,000. In July 2017 he was the first player in the world to be signed as a professional Gwent player by the EvilGeniuses team . At the same time he began to play Gwent tournaments in his villa in Vienna.

Since he separated from his team EvilGeniuses in April, he is currently working as a free agent in esports. Since mid-2018, Koy has been playing Valve Corporation's new CCG : Artifact . However, towards the end of 2018 he stopped this activity.

As one of the oldest (over 30 years) active e-athletes, Koy sees a certain role model effect in his person with regard to youth development and everyday suitability of e-sports. He understands e-sports as an equivalent sport to other competitive disciplines and is characterized by high self-discipline, maximum focus and his analytical mindset.

Family and private

Adrian Koy was born in Kassel in 1981 to a German father and a Japanese mother. He has been married to Mirijam Koy (née Wallinger) since 2009. The couple has two daughters, born 2013 and 2014. He dedicated his so-called "Sunshine Hunter" to his second daughter, the first and therefore revolutionary control variant of the Hearthstone class of hunters. Koy moved from Germany to London in 2009 , to the Cayman Islands in 2014 and has lived in Vienna since 2015.
