Adrian Lambert Zach (born September 14, 1845 in Stallek , Znojmo district , Moravia ; † April 4, 1916 in Geras , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian politician ( Christian Social Party ) and religious . He was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives and Abbot of the Geras Abbey .

Education and ecclesiastical career

Zach was born the son of the farmer Johann Zach. He attended elementary school in his native Stallek and then completed a year in secondary school and between 1858 and 1865 the high school in Znojmo. As a result, he continued his education between 1865 and 1866 at the grammar schools in Brno and between 1866 and 1867 in Krems . Zach attended the seminary in Brno from 1867 to 1869 and entered Geras Abbey in 1869. He continued his training in the seminary between 1870 and 1872 in St. Pölten and was ordained a priest in 1873.

In 1872 Zach held the position of forest master in the Geras Abbey, and in 1873 he became a cooperator of the Abbey Parish. In 1879 he took over the position of parish administrator in Göpfritz an der Wild , in April 1884 he moved to Nondorf an der Wild and that same month to Kirchberg an der Wild . In 1889 he was elected abbot of Geras Abbey.

Politics and functions

Zach became Vice President of the Horn Agricultural District Association in 1893 and assumed the role of President in 1906. From 1906 to 1916 he was vice-president of the regional fruit-growing association for Lower Austria and until 1916 chairman of the supervisory board of the savings and loan association for Geras and the surrounding area. In 1898 he was one of the founders of the Christian Social Association in Geras and the surrounding area, and Zach also served as its chairman. In addition, Zach was chairman of the Geras district poor council, member of the Horn district school council and member of the state school council of Lower Austria.

Zach ran for the Christian Social Party in the 1907 Reichsrat election in constituency 58 and was able to prevail with 62 percent in the first ballot. He belonged to the House of Representatives of the Reichsrat in the XI. Legislative period between June 17, 1907 and March 30, 1911 and was a member of the Christian Social Association.
