Adrien Recurt

Adrien Barnabé Athanase Recurt (born June 9, 1798 in Lassalles , Hautes-Pyrénées , † November 7, 1872 in Lévignac , Haute-Garonne ) was a French politician . The Republican briefly headed the Departments of Interior and Public Works in the Second Republic .

Recurt studied medicine and received his doctorate in Montpellier in 1822 . In the last years of the Restoration he settled in the Paris suburb of Saint-Antoine as a doctor, became a member of the Charbonnerie and fought against the monarchy in the July Revolution of 1830. Even during the July monarchy, he remained in opposition to Ludwig Philipp .

During the February Revolution of 1848 he took part in street fighting and was appointed Deputy Mayor of Paris after it ended. Two months later he was elected to the constituent national assembly and became its vice-president. On May 11, 1848, he was appointed Minister of the Interior in the Executive Commission. During his tenure he fought in the June uprising under Louis-Eugène Cavaignac in Saint-Antoine. On June 28, Recurt took over the management of the Ministry of Public Works in Cavaignac's government. After his resignation on October 15, 1848, he was appointed Prefect of the Seine Department on the 25th of the month . After the election of Napoléon III. on December 10, 1848, Recurt resigned his political offices and spent the rest of his life as a doctor in southern France.
