The Aegean Paradise is a cruise ship .

history

The ship was built in 1990 at Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries in Tokyo as Orient Venus and was used there as a three-star-plus ship by Japan Cruise Line on the Japanese market. It was converted into a four-star ship in 2006 in Greece with balcony cabins only in the rear of the ship. The conversion resulted in a high tendency to vibrate when starting up.

On May 1, 2007 the ship was handed over to Delphin Kreuzfahrten and christened on May 18 at the Hamburg Cruise Center HafenCity . Godmother was Katrin Hackmann, the daughter of Heinz-Herbert Hey, the managing partner of Delphin Cruises. The ship replaced the Delphin Renaissance , which was handed over to Pulmantur Cruises at the end of May 2006. Delphin Kreuzfahrten operated the ship until 2011, u. a. on a world tour and in the Mediterranean.

After Delphin Kreuzfahrten filed for bankruptcy at the Hamburg District Court on October 12, 2010 , the owner of the ship, First Cruise One Corp., a subsidiary of the Greek Restis Group, brought the ship back to Greece, where it was initially in the roadstead at Perama before it was chartered to Hainan Cruises Enterprises in China from January to May 2011 under the name Hainan Empress .

In 2011 the ship went to the Spanish shipping company Happy Cruises, which started using it on May 30th under the name Happy Dolphin in the Mediterranean. On September 24, 2011, Happy Cruises suddenly ceased operations. The Happy Dolphin was then in Venice until the end of November 2011 , from where it was hauled to Perama. From summer 2012 the ship sailed under the name Aegean Paradise for the Turkish company etstur. In 2015 Kingston Maritime, a subsidiary of New Century Group Hong Kong, bought the ship.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by two four-stroke - twelve-cylinder - diesel engines of the manufacturer Pielstick with a capacity of each 6,568  kW driven. The motors act on two controllable pitch propellers . The ship can thus reach a speed of up to 22  knots .

Three diesel generators with an output of 1,600 kW ( apparent power : 2,000  kVA ) and an emergency generator with an output of 210 kW (apparent power: 263 kVA) are available for the power supply.

The ship has eight passenger decks. Up to 650 passengers are accommodated in 324 cabins.
