The Aero A.32 was a single-engine, two-seat biplane made by the Czechoslovak manufacturer Aero .
history
The A.32 was created in the late 1920s from the Aero A.11 by installing a Bristol Jupiter IV radial engine built under license by Walter . The Czech Ministry of Defense then ordered 31 machines of this design. Before the delivery, however, further development work took place, in the course of which various modifications were made, so that Aero decided to give the final result the new type designation A.32.
technology
The dimensions of the A.32 were similar to those of the A.11. However, the A.32 had the same size upper and lower wings, while the A.11 had the lower wings shorter than the upper. In addition, the ailerons of the upper wings had counterweights instead of the horn balances used in the A.11; The A.32 does not have horn compensation for the elevators either.
variants
- Aero A.321F
- Execution as a fighter aircraft for the Finnish Air Force ; equipped with a 450 HP (336 kW) in-line engine Isotta Fraschini Asso Cassia.
- Aero A.32GR
- The version also produced for the Finnish Air Force was designed as a combat aircraft, but the machine was mainly used for training purposes. This version was equipped with a Bristol-Jupiter radial engine with 450 hp (336 kW) built by Gnome-Rhône . In 1929 15 machines of this type were delivered to Finland.
- Aero Ap.32 / Apb.32
- These designations were used for improved versions of the A.32 for the Czech army. These machines had a split and streamlined main landing gear and thus improved flight performance compared to the basic model.
