The Aero A.10 was the first aircraft produced by the Czech company Aero Továrna Letadel Dr. Kabeš from Prague, which was ready for series production.

history

It was a six-seat biplane that was designed from the start as a civilian transport aircraft and was also used as such. Development work began in 1921 under the direction of Rudolf Blaser, a former designer at Gotha . The prototype made its first flight on January 3, 1922. The structure of the machine consisted mainly of wood with fabric covering. The upper wings had ailerons with large compensation surfaces and were supported against the top of the fuselage with N struts. The bracing with the lower wing took place via two pairs of handles. The low-lying fuselage offered space for three to four passengers and a luggage compartment in the rear fuselage. The pilot sat in an open cockpit above the luggage compartment. Three windows on each side of the fuselage (this applies to the first two machines, the following had four windows on each side of the fuselage) offered the passengers light, but a restricted view of the outside, as they were in the area of the lower wing. A six-cylinder in - line engine from Maybach , the Maybach Mb-IVa, served as the drive . A number of these engines were in Czechoslovakia after the Austrians left the country after the First World War .

A total of five aircraft were produced, a prototype and four series aircraft. They were used by the Czechoslovak airline ČSA from 1923 on the Prague - Bratislava route .

In December 1922, an A.10 with a 500 kg payload reached a height of 5800 m, which was a record at the time.
