The Aero A.30 was a two-seat biplane - Aircraft of the Czech company Aero Tovarna letadel Dr. Kabes , which was mainly used by the Czech Army aviation as a long-range reconnaissance aircraft and light bomber . The machine was developed as a further development of the relatively successful Aero A.11 .

history

At first, in 1925, Aero made attempts to equip the A.11 with the 450 hp Lorraine-Dietrich, but the A.11 airframe proved to be too weak for this engine.

A new airframe was developed in 1926, overall larger than that of the A.11 and with a larger upper wing area. A Skoda engine was used in the A.30 instead of the originally planned Lorraine-Dietrich, but the A.230 variant received the Lorraine-Dietrich.

Due to the shortcomings that emerged during the first test flights, constant improvements to the details of the A.30 were necessary; Overall, it took about a year for the engineers to be satisfied with their design.

For two months, an Aero A.30 held the world speed record for a 500-kilometer flight with a payload of one ton. The machine reached an average speed of 213.56 km / h in August 1927.

variants

Aero A.130

The A.130 was a prototype based on the A.30, equipped with a Bristol Jupiter VI radial engine with 273 kW (500 PS).

Aero A.230

The series equipped with the Lorraine-Dietrich engine with 365 kW (490 hp) was given the designation A.230. The split axis of the main landing gear also differed from the A.30, which was equipped with a continuous axis.

Aero A.330

Version that was equipped with a Praga ESV motor with 485 kW (650 PS)

Aero A.430

Only a prototype of this variant, equipped with a 485 kW (650 hp) Avia Vr 36 engine, was built.

Nothing is known about the total number of A.30s built including their variants.

In addition to the above variants, the A.30 was the basis for the development of the Aero A.100 .
