Afers ( Italian or Ladin : Eores ) is a fraction of the municipality of Brixen in South Tyrol ( Italy ), which can be reached via the Würzjoch road. It is around 15 km from Brixen and is located in the Afer Valley . Afers has 621 (2001 census) inhabitants and consists of several small towns, of which St. George is the main town. There are two churches in the parliamentary group: the one dedicated to St. George in the main town and the other dedicated to St. Jacob in the locality of St. Jacob. The Vallazza lift up to the Plose starts in Palmschoss .

history

From 1920 Afers was a separate municipality in the Province of Venezia Tridentina, which was renamed the Province of Trento in 1923. Afers has belonged to the province of Bolzano since 1927. In 1929 the community of Afers was dissolved, so Afers became a fraction of the community of St. Andrä. Since 1941, both villages have been part of the municipality of Brixen.

In 2016 the new primary school with kindergarten in the village center and the new fire station just outside the village center near Tannheim-Reide were inaugurated.

Afers is the only parliamentary group in Bressanone that has a self-administration.
