Affonso Celso de Ouro-Preto (born July 29, 1938 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Affonso Celso de Ouro-Preto studied at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris in 1956 . In 1963 he completed a course at the Rio Branco Institute . In 1964 he was an attached secretary for Eastern Europe and Asia to Foreign Minister Vasco Leitão da Cunha . From 1966 to 1969 he was employed in Washington, DC . From 1970 to 1973 he was employed in Vienna . Until 1974 he was employed in the embassy in Bissau . He then worked in the Africa department until 1977. In 1977 he was employed in the delegation to the organizations at the United Nations Office in Geneva . From 1979 he headed the Africa department at Itamaraty .

From 1983 to 1987 he was ambassador in Bissau . From 1987 to 1990 he headed the Brazilian delegation of the Conferência Técnica sobre a Institucionalização do Parlamento Latinoamericano . From 1990 to 1993 he was ambassador to Stockholm . From 1993 to 1995 he was the office manager of Foreign Minister Celso Amorim . From 1995 to 1999 he was ambassador to Vienna . From 1999 to 2003 he was ambassador to Beijing . From 2004 to 2010 he headed the Middle East department at Itamarity. He then headed the Instituto de Estudios Brasil-China (IBRACH).
