Afghan Star

Afghan Star is a casting show in Afghanistan , similar to Deutschland sucht den Superstar , in which the aim is to find the most talented young Afghan singer. The program is broadcast by the Afghan television station Tolo TV . Since September 2005, 12 seasons of the show have been produced.

Under the rule of the Islamist Taliban , all music was banned as "un-Islamic". VCRs , televisions , CDs , record players , records , cassettes and other sound carriers were prohibited and were confiscated. Only sung verses from the Koran were allowed.

The show's director and host , Daoud Sediqi , also has a say. Afghan Star was produced by British director Havana Marking .
