The 1959 Africa Cup ( English : African Cup of Nations , French : Coupe d'Afrique des Nations ) was the second game of the African continental championship in football and took place from May 22nd to 29th in the United Arab Republic (Egypt and Syria). Organized by the African continental football federation Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF), as in the first edition in 1957, only three teams - Ethiopia , the United Arab Republic and Sudan - took part.

This time the game was played in a simple league round everyone against everyone. All three games took place in Cairo at the Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium , the former stadium of Al Ahly .

The host's team was able to defend its 1957 title and became African champions for the second time in football.
