Agüera ( Asturian Augüera ) is a parroquia and a place in the municipality of Belmonte de Miranda in the autonomous region of Asturias in northern Spain .
Agüera is also the administrative seat of the Parroquia of the same name.
geography
Noteworthy rivers are: the Río Pigueña with its largest tributary the Rio Chamosu , the Rio les Dormiechas , and the Rio de Solanos , which even has its source here. The municipality's rivers are known for their abundance of trout , salmon and other game fish. The mountain ranges of the Sierra de Quintanal, the Sierra de Arceyo run through the Parroquia, the Sierra Manteca and the Sierra de Montovo limit them to the west and east. At 1,521 m, the Pico Manteca is the largest elevation of the Parroquia.

economy
Since time immemorial, agriculture, and especially livestock farming with all its ancillary businesses such as dairies, cheese factories, etc., has been the main source of income for the community. Until the mines closed in 2006, the largest employer was the mining industry, around the municipal capital of Belmonte. Many of the miners now commute to the neighboring communities, where even larger mines are operated. The service industry with the tourism industry is also the division with the greatest growth here.

The fabada has a long tradition here, as in all of Asturias.
