Agasias was the son of the Ephesian sculptor Menophilus and grandson of an Agasias. He was probably a somewhat older relative of the sculptor of the same name Agasias , who had roughly the same creative period between 110 and 60 BC. Had. Like his father Menophilos, Agasias worked mainly on Delos. Here he created several statues of honor on behalf of Romans who were merchants on Delos. They were placed on the agora , the so-called agora of the Italians . Among them were also three monuments to Roman senators: from the consul of the year 88 BC. BC, Quintus Pompeius Rufus , by the legate Caius Billienus (the statue of Caius Billienus was damaged during the Mithradatic War and later restored by the sculptor Aristandros from Paros ) and by Gaius Marius . This inscription calls except the artist ordination ligand in Alexandria resident Italians . She is associated with a statue of a wounded Gaul found on the agora . A bronze head that was found on Delos and is stylistically close to the Borghesian fencer of his relative of the same name is often ascribed to Agasias. There is also evidence of a collaboration with the sculptor Eutychides .

Agasias created two bronze groups for the sanctuary of Poseidon and Amphitrite on Tenos . They show the fight between Eros and Anteros in the presence of Nike . Possibly this is an early work by the artist. The two groups were placed in front of the great altar of the sanctuary, the bases are still preserved today. The traces of the bronzes show that the two groups corresponded conceptually. The surviving dedicatory inscription names the sculptor and the motif as well as Publius Servilius Vatia Isauricus , the proconsul of the province of Asia in 46 BC. BC, who had renewals made to the Christmas gift.
