Agave revoluta is a species of plant from the genus of agaves ( Agave ) in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet revoluta comes from Latin , means 'rolled up' or 'rolled back' and refers to the leaves of the species.

description

Agave revoluta forms rhizomes 1.8 centimeters in diameter. The five linear-lanceolate, rolled back leaves are somewhat runny, wavy and thin. Its point is broadly pointed and has a short point. The leaf blade is 12.3 to 18.8 inches long and 1.5 to 2 inches wide. It has a distinct midrib and closely spaced leaf veins. The leaf margins show a narrow, hyaline band. They are whole or fine papillate to gnawed papillate. The remnants of the leaf base are finely fibrous and 0.5 centimeters long.

The "eared" inflorescence reaches a height of 80 to 120 centimeters. The flower-bearing part is elongated or compressed and bears seated, upright flowers . The narrow ellipsoidal ovary is 7 to 12 millimeters long. The narrow funnel-shaped perigone tube has a length of 12 to 14 millimeters. Their elongated tips are thin. The stylus rises above the flower tube by 18 to 35 millimeters. The scars are triangular. The flowering time is July.

Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds .

Systematics and distribution

Agave revoluta is common in the Mexican state of México on loamy banks.

The first description by Johann Friedrich Klotzsch was published in 1840. Nomenclatory synonyms are Manfreda revoluta (Klotzsch) Rose (1903) and Polianthes revoluta (Klotzsch) Shinners (1966).

The species belongs to the subgenus Manfreda and is assigned to the Manfreda group there.
