Aghnatios Elias Yaacoub

Aghnatios Elias Yaacoub SJ (born June 27, 1923 in al-Minya ; † March 12, 1994 ) was an Egyptian religious and Coptic Catholic bishop of Luxor .

Life

Aghnatios Elias Yaacoub joined the Congregation of the Jesuits in and received on 9 June 1946, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

The Synod of Bishops of the Coptic Catholic Church elected him Coadjutor Bishop of Assiut . This election was confirmed by Pope John Paul II on May 19, 1983. The Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria , Stephanos I Cardinal Sidarouss CM , donated him episcopal ordination on June 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Assiut, Youhanna Nueir OFM , and the Bishop of Luxor, Andraos Ghattas CM.

Yaacoub became Bishop of Luxor on July 15, 1986.
