Agus R. Sarjono

Agus R. Sarjono (born July 27, 1962 in Bandung , Indonesia ) is an Indonesian writer , literary scholar and translator . He writes poems, short stories, essays, reviews, and dramas that have been published in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and various journals in Germany, France, the Netherlands, England, and the United States. His poems are included in more than twenty anthologies . Together with the German Malayologist Berthold Damshäuser , Sarjono is the editor and translator of the "Seri Puisi Jerman" (series of German-language poetry in Indonesian translation) published in Indonesia.

Services

Sarjono works as a lecturer at the theater studies department of the STSI art school in Bandung and as editor of the literary magazine Horison . From 2002 to 2006 he was program director of the Jakarta Arts Council (Dewan Kesenian Jakarta) . From February to October 2001 he was writer-in-residence at the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) in Leiden . From December 2002 to March 2003 he was a fellow of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and a guest of the Heinrich Böll House in Langenbroich .
