Ahrweiler Rosenthal
The Ahrweiler Rosenthal is a single location in the German wine-growing region Ahr and is considered a good location in the municipality of Ahrweiler . It is part of the large Klosterberg site in the Walporzheim / Ahrtal area . The location adjoins the Ahrweiler Forstberg in the east and the Ahrweiler Silberberg in the west .
In the lower area of the site, the site closes off from the street and the railway line with a high retaining wall.
The vineyards are at a height of 110 to 180 m above sea level. NN .
The name of this single location is unclear. On the one hand, the naming can be an indication of wild roses on the site. On the other hand, the name can go back to the old word Runst (rinnendes) and would therefore be a reference to a trickle or a spring.
With 50.75 hectares of defined vineyards, it is one of the largest individual layers in the Ahr Valley.
The south to southeast aligned steep slopes on shale weathering ground with grauwacke in the eastern part, loam in the upper region and in the western part Loess is predominantly with the grape Pinot Noir planted (content 70%). The vines are supplemented by 15% Blauer Portugieser , 5% Frühburgunder , 5% Dornfelder and 5% spread over Müller-Thurgau , Ortega and Riesling . At the beginning of the 1970s, the proportion of the Portuguese grape was still 40 percent.
Around 21 hectares of the designated area are currently planted. The well-known wineries Weingut Adeneuer and red winery Jean Stodden own shares in this prime location .
