Ahuroa is a small settlement in the urban area of today's Auckland Council on the North Island of New Zealand . Until October 2010, the settlement was part of the former Rodney District .
geography
The settlement is 11 km northwest of Puhoi , 13 km southwest of Warkworth and a good 7 km south of Kaipara Flats . The North Auckland Line runs through the settlement area.
history
The North Auckland Line reached Ahuroa from Kaukapakapa in 1905 . It was created to exploit the forests here. Since the place at that time had a train station, it was decided in the late 1920s to declare the road between Ahuroa and Glorit on the west coast to be a state highway and to secure it with gravel. Today, however, the settlement is no longer connected to the network of highways. The nearest major road is New Zealand State Highway 16 , which leads north in Glorit, 10 km away.
education
There is a coeducational elementary school in the settlement , which is designed for grades 1–8 and was given a decile rating of 7 and 25 students (01/2009).
