history

The former Württemberg domain Aichholzhof on a loess-covered plateau west of the Glems was also called Katharinenhof in the past . Like other Alemannic settlements, the hamlet evidently emerged from a Roman estate, of which numerous remains were discovered in the immediate vicinity and on the site of the then royal domain in the 19th century. The " Alte Vaihinger Weg ", which runs from Grüningen through the former hamlet via Pulverdingen and below Dauseck Castle to Enzweihingen , is also intended to go back on a Roman road . The old way lost its original meaning in the 18th century with the construction of a new " Chaussee " to the "Gröninger Hochgericht " on today's federal highway 10 and was given up in the 19th century.

In 1393 the Esslingen hospital nun Dorothea von Steig transferred one of the courtyards in the hamlet of “Aicholtz”, which was still occupied for 1480, to the Katharinenhospital in Esslingen . Another court estate was owned by the Lords of Sachsenheim until it died out in the 16th century and, like the estate of the Katharinenspital, fell to Württemberg. The hamlet was probably lost during the Thirty Years' War . In 1752 it can still be recognized on the Markgröninger Aussfeld map as a desert near "Aicholtzer Bronn".

Since 1799 the camera administrator Karl Amandus Friedrich Stockmaier has acquired various properties on the Markgröningen mark. In the years 1811/12 a house with a barn and stable was built. Pharmacist Speidel bought the estate in 1835, only to sell it on to Professor Karl Pistorius from Hohenheim after a year. From 1837 onwards, he had other buildings built on the estate: a stable, a bakery and a granary. Later a servants' house was built for the farm workers. In 1846 the Hofdomänenkammer bought the Aichholzhof from Professor Pistorius for 40,000 guilders as the private asset management company of the Württemberg royal family. Friedrich Josenhans moved from Markgröningen as the first tenant and managed the domain until 1870. Then Jakob Bayha leased the farm with a short break until 1900. Finally, the tenant family Marstaller managed the Aichholzhof until the lease was dissolved.

Because of its favorable location, the Aichholzhof was considered a very good domain. However, the Deutsche Bundesbahn needed so much land for the high-speed rail line from Stuttgart to Mannheim that further leasing was no longer an option. Therefore, the lease was terminated in 1976. In the following spring, the Hofkammer sold the domain area to the Deutsche Bundesbahn and the Landsiedlung Baden-Württemberg GmbH.

The Aichholzhof is best known today for its horse show held by the Markgröningen-Möglingen riding and driving club, which is based on the farm and is now over 60 years old. There is also a broom bar and a farm shop .
