Aino Pervik

Aino Pervik (born April 22, 1932 in Rakvere ) is an Estonian writer .

Life

Aino Pervik was born into a family of doctors. She graduated from the Tartu State University in 1955 with a degree in Finno-Ugric Studies . From 1955 to 1960 she worked as a publishing editor at the Estonian State Publishing House ( Estonian Eesti Riiklik Kirjastus ) and from 1960 to 1967 she worked for Estonian television . She then worked as a freelance writer in Estonia . In 1974 she joined the Estonian SSR Writers' Union .

Aino Pervik is best known as a children's and youth author. Her books have been translated into numerous languages. She also wrote short stories and poems .

In addition, she has emerged as a translator from Hungarian ( Emil Kolozsvar Grandpierre , Kálmán Mikszáth , Iván Mándy , Éva Janikovszky ).

In 1976 she received the Juhan Smuul Prize , in 1983 the Friedebert Tuglas Prize and in 1993 and 2012 the annual prize of the Estonian Writers' Association.

Aino Pervik married the Estonian writer Eno Raud (1928–1996) in 1961 . They have three children together, the writer and Japanologist Rein Raud (* 1961), the musician and politician Mihkel Raud (* 1969) and the artist and author Piret Raud (* 1971).
