Air Buddy

Air Buddy (born 1988 ; died February 10, 1998 ), also: Buddy , sometimes called Buddy the Wonder Dog , was an American golden retriever and animal actor. He was best known as "Air Bud" in the comedy film Air Bud - Champion on Four Paws and as "Comet" in the television series Full House .

Life

Buddy was picked up by Kevin DiCicco in the summer of 1989 as a stray in the Sierra Nevada area . DiCicco brought the dog to San Diego , California and adopted him. He taught him several sports, so the dog could later imitate actions in basketball , baseball , chess , American football , soccer, and hockey . He made his first appearance on America's Funniest Home Videos . As a basketball-playing dog, he has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman , The NBA Inside Stuff, and Letterman's 10th anniversary show on The Late Show. He also appeared in various NBA games.

For the first time as an animal actor he was seen in the television series Full House , in which he played the family dog ​​"Comet" from 1989 to 1995. After Full House ended in 1995, he starred in the movie Fluke , where he played a businessman reincarnated as a dog .

In 1997 he starred in the Disney film Air Bud - Four Paw Champion . It was to be his last film role. In 1997 his right hind leg had to be amputated because of a rare cancer . Buddy died of complications from this illness on February 10, 1998 at the age of 10 in San Diego.

In 2012 Kevin DiCicco published the book Go Buddy! The Air Bud Story .
