The Airco DH.10 Amiens is a twin-engine British biplane .
history
In 1916, Geoffrey de Havilland designed his first twin-engine bomber, the Airco DH.3 . However, the two prototypes never got beyond the testing stage and were finally scrapped in 1917. De Havilland revised the concept, however. When more powerful engines were available, he developed the DH.10. The concept worked and the British military ordered a total of 1290 pieces. However, only 266 were built as the war ended. The planes remained in active service until 1927.
One machine each was used by Aircraft Transport & Travel in Great Britain and one by the US Post Office for airmail services in the USA .
