The Aitkin Township is one of 40 townships in Aitkin County in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . In 2010 the Aitkin Township had 856 inhabitants.

The Aitkin Township is located in the northeastern center of Minnesota, is traversed by the upper Mississippi and lies at 46 ° 32'21 "north latitude and 93 ° 45'43" west longitude. The township extends over 89.9 km², which is spread over 84.1 km² of land and 5.9 km² of water.

The border with Wisconsin is about 130 km to the west; the border with Canada is around 280 km north of the township. The Upper Lake is around 150 km to the west and the Twin Cities are around 200 km to the south.

The Aitkin Township is located in the west of Aitkin County and borders on disorganized territory to the north . In the southeast of the Aitkin Township, it almost completely encloses the city of Aitkin , which does not belong to any township. The Crow Wing County borders on the west, northwest, and southwest . The township borders in the northeast on the Morrison , in the east on the Spencer and in the south on the Farm Island Township .

US Highway 169 , the southern artery of the city of Aitkin , runs through the extreme southeast of the Aitkin Township area . Aitkin's western arterial road is formed by Minnesota State Route 210 , which runs through the entire south of the township. All other roads are county roads or further subordinate and partially unpaved roads.

A BNSF Railway runs parallel to the MN 210 .

The nearest major airport is Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, around 230 km south .

According to the 2010 census , Aitkin Township had 856 people in 353 households. The population density was 10.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.37 people lived in each of the 353 households.
