aktuell '83 was the title of an art exhibition organized by the City of Munich from September 21, 1983 to November 20, 1983 in the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus . Erika Billeter , Vittorio Fagone , Dieter Ronte and the then director of the Lenbachhaus Armin Second were responsible for the conception and implementation of the exhibition .

reception

The weekly newspaper Die Zeit saw the 1983 exhibition as an “unexpectedly stimulating attempt at an answer” to the question of what artists are dealing with today (i.e. 1983). The exhibition "resolutely corrected the image of the widely formed new art that remained from the opinion-forming exhibitions of the last few months", so the time at that time. However, the exhibition was also received critically. In 1983 , the magazine Der Spiegel described the exhibition's concept of inviting artists from four cities (Milan, Vienna, Zurich and Munich) as a “corset”.
