A sound signal is an acoustic signal that conveys a message .

General

It serves as a warning of dangers and is required to call emergency services ( emergency signal ). It is also used as a wake-up call and as a pause signal and time signal on the radio, see also Jingle . Another function is the alarm signal .

The most common sound signals in the home are the bell ( doorbell and alarm bell) and the call signal . In traffic there is the horn , the following tone horn , the bicycle bell and the whistle z.
