Skin Yard was a grunge group from Seattle .

You are considered to be one of the pioneers of the grungy wave which reached its peak in the early 1990s. Despite the lack of commercial success, both the band and their sound influenced many other bands of this time ( Nirvana , Soundgarden , The Melvins ), and their guitarist Jack Endino wrote music history as a producer of many bands. B. Nirvana's first record, Bleach, was produced and the guitar sound of that time was extremely influential.

Band history

Skin Yard was founded in January 1985 by Jack Endino and Daniel House, who previously played with the later Guns N 'Roses bassist Duff McKagan for 10 Minute Warning . Ben McMillan was found as the singer and Matthew Cameron as the drummer , who had previously made music with Daniel House. Skin Yard had their first appearance in June 1985 with The U-Men , they were also represented alongside Soundgarden , The Melvins and Green River on the Deep Six compilation by C / Z, which was released in late 1985 . In early 1986 Skin Yard released their first single and self-titled record. In June, Matthew Cameron left the band and joined Soundgarden. His place was taken for a few appearances first by Steve Wied, who then played for Tad , and then by Greg Gilmore, who would later have the mallets in hand for Mother Love Bone . Jason Finn ( The Presidents of the United States of America , Love Battery ) took on the role of drummer for 8 months until he went to Europe and was replaced by Scott McCullum, who, ironically, previously worked as a drummer for Soundgarden. After a US tour, which went down in the band's history as the "tour from hell", Scott McCullum left the band and Skin Yard was put on hold for over a year. With Barrett Martin (later: Screaming Trees , Mad Season ) as the new permanent drummer, a high phase of the band began again. In 1991, Daniel House left Skin Yard. In its place came Pat Pederson, with whom they recorded their last published album "Inside the Eye".

After the band broke up, Ben McMillan formed Gruntruck with Scott McCullum . Pat Pederson and Barrett Martin jammed with Jack Endino in Endino's Earthworm . Daniel House produces records for C / Z Records . Martin Barrett founded his own label (Fast Horse Recordings), took over the post of drummer with the Screaming Trees , which he had taken over in 1991, worked as a tour drummer for REM and played with Mad Season . Jack Endino has produced over 250 records since 1985 and dedicated himself to his solo projects.
