Alan Wenkus

Alan Wenkus (born April 10, 1966 in California ) is an American author , screenwriter and film producer , who was nominated for an Oscar in 2016 for his work on the screenplay for the biography Straight Outta Compton .

Life

Alan Wenkus, who already worked for the HOT 97 Morning Show in New York during his school days , also wrote lyrics for the show and was otherwise very active in this profession. After graduating from Boston University , he worked as a screenwriter and held senior positions at Premiere Radio Networks and Clear Channel . During this time he conducted a series of interviews with former NWA manager Jerry Heller and Tomica Woods-Wright, the widow of Eazy-E , who was involved in the production of the film Straight Outta Compton , to whom Wenkus with S. Leigh Savidge wrote the story.

As early as 1985, Wenkus was involved with Ken Segall and Gordon Mitchell on the story template for Mitchell's screenplay for the comedy Die Superaufreißer with Johnny Depp . In 2002 he co-produced an episode of the Flatland television series .

At the 2016 Academy Awards , Alan Wenkus and S. Leigh Savidge received an Oscar nomination for the story of the biography Straight Outta Compton , which forms the basis for the script written by Jonathan Herman and Andrea Berloff , and is nominated in the "Best Original Screenplay" category .

Wenkus was involved in the 2015 film Teddy Ballgame , a biography about baseball legend Ted Williams . He wrote the script for the biographical drama No Show Jones about legendary country music star George Jones . He previously conducted dozens of interviews and worked closely with Jones' widow, Nancy. Wenkus is known for doing extensive research before getting into the actual work of writing.

Wenkus is also busy preparing Johnny Walker's and Jim DeFelice's bestseller: Code Name: Johnny Walker for the big screen. The work is about an Iraqi citizen who works with the US Navy SEALs to track down some of the world's most dangerous terrorists . His code name is: Johnny Walker.

Although he was usually not mentioned in the credits of the films, Wenkus worked on various scripts for Warner Bros. , TriStar Pictures , New Line Pictures and Xenon Pictures.
