Albert Baldauf

Albert Baldauf (born December 8, 1917 in Beaumarais , Rhine Province , Kingdom of Prussia , † October 25, 1991 in Lebach ) was a German CDU politician .

Life

Soon he attended the Roman Catholic elementary school in Beaumarais. In 1932 he began an apprenticeship as an electrician at the Röchling Iron and Steel Works in Völklingen , which he completed in 1936 with the journeyman's examination. After his labor service , he volunteered for the Navy in 1938 . In the Second World War he was transferred to the submarine weapon. After a frontline mission on U 49 , which was sunk near Narvik in 1940 , he was taken prisoner by the British , which lasted until 1947.

After his imprisonment, he worked as an apprentice trainer at VSE AG in Saarland and also attended the master's school, which he finished in 1949 with a master craftsman's certificate.

Baldauf died of leukemia on October 25, 1991 .

Political party

Since 1952, Baldauf was a co-founder of the Saarland CDU, which was still illegal at the time, and campaigned for the Saarland to be reintegrated into the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1957 he became chairman of the CDU district association Saarlouis .

MP

Baldauf belonged to the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965. He represented the constituency of Saarlouis- Merzig in parliament. He was then a member of the Saarland state parliament ( 1965–1970 ).

Public offices

From 1956 to 1964 Baldauf was mayor of Wallerfangen .

Honors

Baldauf was awarded the Saarland Order of Merit on April 25, 1977 .
