Albert Barth (theologian)

Albert Barth (born February 20, 1874 in Basadingen , † May 14, 1927 in Basel ) was a Swiss theologian and educational politician .

Barth studied theology in Basel and Berlin as well as history and German in Göttingen ; In 1900 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. From 1904 to 1909 Barth was a teacher at the humanistic grammar school in Basel . From 1909 to 1915 he was head of the teachers' college in Schaffhausen . From 1915 he was rector of the Basel Daughter School .

Barth was active in educational policy and school reform ; he campaigned “for the strengthening of civic education and the reform of the grammar school”. In 1919 he was "the Federal Council's authoritative expert for the recognition of the three types of Matura A, B and C ".
