Albert E. Kaiser (born August 11, 1920 in Zurich ; † December 5, 2004 in Basel ) was a Swiss conductor and music teacher . In 1951 he founded the professional orchestra Collegium Musicum Basel .

Life

Kaiser studied piano and music director in Zurich (with Volkmar Andreae ) and Salzburg at the Mozarteum . At the age of 19 he was Paul Burkhard's assistant at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . In 1945 he moved to Basel, where he first became first operetta conductor and from 1951 opera conductor at the Basel Theater . In 1955 he switched to Swiss television as musical director, where he initiated several music programs. In 1961 Kaiser founded the “Interlaken Mozart Weeks” (today Interlaken Classics ) and in 1963 the Baselland Oratorio Choir.

In 1972 Kaiser set up the "Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Regio Basiliensis" with the help of the Basel Kiwanis Club. In addition, he worked as an orchestral conducting lecturer at the Basel Music Academy . From 1973 he was a regular guest conductor at the Vienna Volksoper .
