Albert Friedrich Gottschick (born December 13, 1807 in Schorstedt ; † January 2, 1871 in Berlin ) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher. He was the director of the Anklamer Gymnasium and the Putbus pedagogy .

Life

Albert Friedrich Gottschick was the son of a pastor and, like his numerous siblings, was taught by him. From 1822 he attended high school in Stendal . From 1827 he studied theology and philology in Berlin. He attended the lectures of Friedrich Schleiermacher , August Neanders , August Böckhs and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel . In 1829, while he was continuing his studies, he took a position as tutor for the children of General von Tippelskirch . After passing the state examination in February 1831, he began a probationary year at the Friedrichwerder Gymnasium at Easter of the same year and stayed there afterwards. In 1836 he was employed as the twelfth full teacher at the grammar school. He worked well with Eduard Bonnell , who became director of the grammar school in 1837, and was promoted to senior teacher. He mainly taught the Greek language and during this time wrote a Greek reader for lower and middle classes as well as an elementary grammar of the Greek language.

In 1847 Gottschick was entrusted with the management of the high school in Anklam, which was to be re-established. He succeeded in reorganizing the school and raising it again to the level of a full high school with a high school diploma. The provincial school authority of the province of Pomerania appointed him thereupon in September 1852 as director of the pedagogy in Putbus . He took up this position in January of the following year. Here he worked successfully, the number of students increased and more living space had to be provided for the alumni. He managed to set up the previously missing class of sixths. In 1864 he was appointed to Berlin and was appointed provincial school councilor for the province of Brandenburg .
