Albert Hillebrand

Albert Hillebrand (born October 29, 1889 in Barmen ; † March 10, 1960 in Münster ) was a German NSDAP functionary and mayor of the city of Münster during the National Socialist era .

Life

Before Albert Hillebrand did his military service with the 1st Guard Foot Artillery Regiment and was wounded in the process, he was employed as an office worker after a traineeship at the State Insurance Institute of Westphalia . After working for the tax offices in Münster and Beckum, he became a tax supernumerary. This means that he became "redundant" civil servant candidates without any salary. In 1927 he was drafted into the Reich Ministry of Finance and in 1931 moved to the tax administration in Münster, where he became chief tax inspector. On April 3, 1933, Hillebrand was head of the city council in Münster. This was followed by the election of the city's second mayor and the commissioning of the mayor's business. First provisional, then from September 1933 definitively appointed Lord Mayor, he managed the fortunes of the city and remained in this position under the command of Major HF Jackson until his arrest in March 1945 by the British occupation forces . In the later denazification process , he was classified as a follower.

Hillebrand was a member of the Freikorps from 1920 to 1922 and was a Gauleiter of the Escherich organization . In 1927 he joined the NSDAP. From 1940 to 1945 Hillebrand was a member of the Westphalian Provincial Council .
