Friedrich Albert Kleffmann (born May 27, 1882 in Heinsberg ; † November 10, 1965 in Altenhundem ) was a German philosopher, engineer, editor, local historian and dialect poet.

Life

Friedrich Albert Kleffmann was born in 1882 on his home farm in Heinsberg. He was the oldest of eight children. His parents were Anton Kleffmann and his wife Johanna nee Höbelheinrich. After elementary school, Kleffmann attended grammar school in Attendorn . From 1903 to 1907 he studied philosophy in Marburg and Bonn . He received his doctorate in philosophy and then studied engineering. After that, Kleffmann worked, among other things, as a structural engineer in Düsseldorf . From 1908 onwards he worked as an editor for the "Niederrheinische Warte" and the "Neußer and Viersener Verkehrsanzeiger".

During the First World War he worked as a topographer. Kleffmann then moved to Altenhundem and worked there as an engineer and surveyor. He was involved in the construction of the road between Bilstein and Altenhundem and also co-organizer in the construction of the Hohen Bracht . The co-founder and first chairman of the Sauerland Heimatbund published from 1927 to 1941 under the pseudonym Alfred van Ruinsperg or Alfrid von Ruinsperg the columns "Lank un twiäß düär´t Land" in Sauerland daily newspapers every one to two weeks. Because of his mocking protests, he was taken into protective custody in 1933 and had to go into hiding for weeks in 1934. In 1938 he was banned from working as a surveyor and in 1941 from all writing.

After the Second World War , he was appointed first magistrate by the occupying powers in Altenhundem. Kleffmann was also politically active for a short time. He founded the local SPD group Altenhundem-Kirchhundem and was chairman of the Altenhundem SPD in 1947/1948. He was also a member of the district committee. After differences he was no longer politically active. Shortly before his death, the Kirchhundem office took over the archives of the local history researcher. Kleffmann died at the age of 83.
