Albert Pütz (writer)

Albert Pütz (born March 15, 1932 in Saarburg , † January 19, 2008 in Aachen ) was a German lawyer and writer .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1952, Pütz studied modern languages at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . From 1966 to 1994 he was a judge at the district court in Idar-Oberstein and lived in Kirschweiler .

Literary work

His first publication appeared in the home book of the Saarburg district in 1962 with the contribution “Die Volksballaden Ernst Thrasolts ”. Since the 1970s, Pütz has published several novels, essays and short stories as well as documentaries. He became known with his 1998 book “Das SS-Sonderlager / KZ Hinzert 1940-1945” and his research on the former commandant Paul Sporrenberg .

He was also involved in the professional associations of authors, including chairman of the support group of German writers in Rhineland-Palatinate from 1984 to 1990 and state chairman of the association of German writers in the IG Medien from 1984 to 1994 as well as a member of the executive committee of the federal writers' congress. Pütz was one of the initiators of the Rhineland-Palatinate Literature Days and the “ Book of the Year ” competition in Rhineland-Palatinate and a jury member for the Rhineland-Palatinate Art Prize and the Carl Zuckmayer Medal, among others .
