Albert Ludwig Serlo (born February 14, 1824 in Crossen an der Oder ; † November 14, 1898 in Charlottenburg ) was a German miner and politician .

Life

Born the son of a doctor , Serlo studied law and mining at the Bauakademie Berlin after attending the Berlin Gymnasium Zum Grauen Kloster . During his studies he was one of the founders of the old Berlin fraternity Germania . In 1849 he did his military service in the 3rd Pioneer Department in Magdeburg , from 1859 to 1866 he was deployed as Premier-Lieutenant of the Landwehr Pioneers.

In 1867 he became the chief mining authority and mining captain in Breslau . In 1875 he was in Wroclaw city councilor and was from 1876 to 1882 for the constituency of Opole 5, then to 1885 for the constituency Trier 5 deputy in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the Free Conservative Party . From 1878 to 1884 he was chief miner and ministerial director in the Ministry of Commerce.

He was chairman of the board of trustees of the Geological State Institute and the Bergakademie Berlin . He also served as government commissioner for the House of Representatives and the Manor . He initiated the firedamp commission in order to develop causes and measures to avoid firedamp explosions .

Albert Serlo died in Charlottenburg in 1898 at the age of 74. He was buried in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Cemetery there in what is now Berlin-Westend . The grave has not been preserved.
