Albert Thate

Albert Thate (born July 14, 1903 in Düren , † October 11, 1982 in Düsseldorf ) was a German church musician , composer and lecturer. His best-known work is the 1935 canon on the request of the Emmaus disciples, Lord, stay with us , which is often sung as evening prayer.

Live and act

Thate completed his studies in Protestant church music at the Cologne University of Music in 1930 with the A-exam and in 1932 with the composition exam. In 1934 he gave organ lessons to Jürg Baur . Until 1943 he was cantor and organist at the Matthäikirche and then until 1968 at the Kreuzkirche in Düsseldorf , where he was involved in the construction of the organ in 1966 . Thate was a church musician and lecturer in composition at the church music school in Düsseldorf.
