history

The family had its origins in the French d'Albert family , from which the dukes of Luynes also descended. She settled in northern Italy. During the fighting between Ghibellines and Guelphs they came from there to Trient , then to Tyrol, where they acquired large estates, and later to Salzburg .

In 1550, the respected doctor Albertus von Alberti, mentioned in a document from 1565, who was confirmed as nobility by Emperor Ferdinand I in 1558 , came to Trento from Poja in Judicaria . His grandson or son Bonaventura Alberti von Poja, married to Marina von Lutti, had his palace in the parish of Santa Maria Maggiore. Francis Seraphicus, later Bishop of Trident and one of Bonaventura's children, was baptized in this church on May 22, 1610.

Imperial Knight Franz Anton (Francesco Antonio) Alberti de Poja (1646–1722) and Eleonora Bonelli di Cavalese had numerous children, including Johann Baptist Anton (Giovanni Battista Antonio) Alberti de Poja (1690–1764), long-time court chancellor of the Prince-Bishop of Trento. The family flourished in two lines, the older line at Rovereto , donated by Count Franz Alberti von Poja (1744–1822), and the younger line in Trento, donated by Count Johann Baptist (1748–1796).

The Alberti of Poja are extinct in the male line. They must not be confused with the sex of the Count Alberti von Enno or that of the Counts von Pola , who also have different coats of arms.
