biography

Francis' parents, Bonaventure von Alberti and Marina von Lutti, had their palace in the parish of Santa Maria Maggiore in Trento, where he was baptized on May 22, 1610. As an adolescent he trained in high schools in Germany and Italy for his future profession, from where he returned home as a doctor of theology .

On May 29, 1638 he was ordained a priest . As a young priest proven, archbishop named him Charles Emmanuel the vicar general of the diocese. He held this office from 1644 to 1654. In 1647 he was also appointed cathedral capitular , a little later cathedral scholastic and in 1670 archdeacon. At the same time he was the prince-bishop's councilor and president of the academy. He was often sent to Rome with important assignments.

St. Vigilius Cathedral in Trento

After his choir brothers had unanimously elected him as his successor after Sigmund Alphons von Thun's death on April 3, 1677, the 66-year-old was very surprised and had to be persuaded to accept this office. It was donated to him on November 13, 1678 by Sebastiano Pisani , Bishop of Verona ; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Feltre , Bartolomeo Gera (Giera), as well as Jesse Perghoffer , titular bishop of Belline and auxiliary bishop in Brixen.

In 1682, under Franz Seraphicus, a chapel was added to the St. Vigilius Cathedral on the south side. Much of the paintings inside the church date from his time. During his tenure he also built the Castello del buon Consiglio in Trento. The expansion consisted of extending the facade of the Renaissance area by four windows and was carried out in 1686. On the ground floor, the rooms are not decorated, while the rooms on the first and second floors have rich wood and plaster decorations in the Baroque style. His family coat of arms is under the main cornice.
