Alberto Gori
Alberto Gori OFM (born February 9, 1889 in San Piero Agliana , Italy , † November 25, 1970 in Jerusalem ) was an Italian religious and Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem .
Life
Alberto Gori joined the Franciscan Order and was ordained a priest on July 19, 1914 . He served as a chaplain during the First World War and came to the Holy Land in uniform. In 1922 he became a teacher at the college in Aleppo, of which he was director until 1937, when he was appointed custodian of the Holy Land . On November 21, 1949, he became a bishop and Latin Patriarch. He was ordained bishop on December 27, 1949 by Cardinal Eugène Tisserant ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Luigi Traglia and Igino Michelangelo Nuti OFM, former Vicar Apostolic of Egypt
Patriarch Alberto was particularly committed to school issues and founded schools in Aleppo , Amman , Latakia and elsewhere.
