Alberweiler is a village in the municipality of Herdwangen-Schönach in the south of the Sigmaringen district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Alberweiler is somewhat hidden between the Herdwanger Ried and the ridges of the terminal moraine from the last Ice Age. The Linzer Aach rises in the nearby Ried . To the southwest of Alberweiler lies the Herdwangen suburb , to which it is ecclesiastically and academically oriented.

history

The place name, first mentioned as Adelberinwilare , is derived from the personal name Adalbero .

The Petershauser Chronik from the 12th century records donations from Counts Eberhard von Bodman and Gero von Pfullendorf in Alberweiler to the Petershausen monastery in the 11th century . The tithe rights came in 1392 from Cunrat Grämlich to the Reichenau monastery . In the 15th century the bailiwick was owned by the lords of Zimmer and in 1517 by the Petershausen Monastery, which it had to sell again in the same year due to economic difficulties.

The single farm Wollreute was owned by the Wald monastery in 1505 (Wolrüti) . The yard is probably younger than expanding settlement through clearing (Reute) created a small forest.

Alberweiler belonged to the Petershauser Amt Herdwangen and was added to the Grand Duchy of Baden after secularization . As a local community, Alberweiler was relatively independent within the Herdwangen joint community until it was completely incorporated in 1924 under pressure from the district office. Together with Herdwangen, the town then became part of the Herdwangen-Schönach community during the 1974 community reform.
