Albin Schneider

Albin Schneider (born January 30, 1925 in Oelsnitz / Vogtl. , † August 15, 2014 ) was a German police officer. He was lieutenant general and for many years head of the district authority of the German People's Police (BDVP) Magdeburg .

Life

The trained lathe operator and brass caster grew up in the Vogtland district of Oelsnitz. In 1945 he became a member of the German People's Police and in 1946 a member of the SED . He embarked on a career as an officer and later qualified as a social scientist . As Lieutenant Colonel of the VP and Chief of Staff of the Presidium of the DVP Berlin until 1966, he was involved in the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 . From 1966 to 1972 he was the VP First Deputy Head of the BDVP Magdeburg. From 1967 to 1990 he was a member of the Magdeburg District Assembly and chairman of the Standing Committee on the Interior of the District Assembly.

From 1972 to December 31, 1989 he was finally head of the BDVP Magdeburg (successor to Colonel VP Kurt Wendt) and at the same time, since 1974, a member of the SED district leadership in Magdeburg and first chairman of the district leadership of the Dynamo sports association .

In 1974 Schneider was promoted to major general and in 1985 promoted to lieutenant general. At the end of 1989, Minister of the Interior Lothar Ahrendt dismissed him from active service because he had reached retirement age .

Schneider last lived in Niederndodeleben .
