Albrecht Prince of Solms-Braunfels

Albrecht Friedrich Ernst Bernhard Wilhelm Prince of Solms-Braunfels (born February 10, 1841 in Düsseldorf , † March 9, 1901 in Wiesbaden ) was the co-founder of the Vienna Cynological Society and president of the German Hunting Club for several years.

Life

Prince Albrecht was the fifth son of Prince Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels (1801–1868) and Countess Maria Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau (1809–1892), daughter of Count Franz de Paula Joseph Kinsky von Wchinitz and Tettau and his wife Countess Therese von Wrbna and Freudenthal. His paternal grandparents were Friedrich Wilhelm zu Solms-Braunfels and Friederike von Mecklenburg-Strelitz , who later became Queen of Hanover.

Prince Albrecht zu Solms-Braunfels was Rittmeister à la suite of the Prussian army. 1875–1878 representative of his brother Ernst zu Solms-Braunfels in the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In 1876 the prince co-founded the Vienna Cynological Society and was president of the German Hunting Club for several years.

Prince Albrecht zu Solms-Braunfels belonged to the European aristocracy and was the main driver of the cynological movement from 1870 to 1888. As early as 1873 he attended many dog shows and in this context traveled to Great Britain and founded the Wolfsmühle kennel in Germany based on the English model. In the first year after its founding in 1874, Prince Albrecht becomes a member of the Kennel Club England on recommendation and judges the foreign dogs and dachshunds at its National Dog Show in the same year .

He was married to Ebba zu Solms-Braunfels (1850-1927 as Lavonius).
