Albrecht Thamm
Albrecht Thamm (born April 10, 1839 in Habelschwerdt , district of Glatz ; † May 5, 1882 there ) was a German sculptor of historicism from the county of Glatz .
Life
The son of the art-loving city secretary and painter Joseph Thamm completed a five-year apprenticeship in sculpture in Vienna until 1858 before, after a short stay in his hometown, he embarked on a journey through northern and southern Germany and finally at the art academy in Berlin im Further training in drawing and modeling. He then worked for a long time in Dresden, Leipzig, Munich and Nuremberg.
In 1865 Albrecht Thamm set up his own workshop in Habelschwerdt.

The artist mainly devoted himself to decorating churches, primarily in the neo-Gothic style . His works are characterized by their close reference to the Gothic model and their careful execution. In addition to numerous statues, crosses, tabernacles, baptismal fonts and the like, he created:
- three altars for the church in Neundorf
- two altars and a pulpit for the parish church in Habelschwerdt
- two altars and a pulpit for the church in Oberschwedeldorf
- an altar and a pulpit for the church in Niederlangenau
- one altar each for the churches in Glatz , Patschkau and the church in Schönfeld
- an altar for the Hedwigsstift in Wartha (Lower Silesia)
- a pulpit for the church in Bobischau
