Albrecht V. Göler of Ravensburg

Albrecht V. Göler von Ravensburg (* 1444 ; † November 12, 1503 ) comes from the Göler von Ravensburg family , an old noble family from Kraichgau that belonged to the Swabian Imperial Knighthood and whose ancestral seat, Ravensburg , is located near Sulzfeld in Baden-Württemberg. In 1488 he became Vogt in Kreuznach .

Albrecht V was the son of Martin Göler von Ravensburg (1408–1465), former canon of Speyer , and Anna von Hirschberg . His brother was Georg I. Göler von Ravensburg , Vogt in Bretten . In 1472, Albrecht married Kunigunde von Rammung , Daisbach's heir . From this marriage came the only son Albrecht VI. Göler of Ravensburg . In the second marriage, Albrecht V married Katharina von Rammung in 1474 and after the death of his wife in 1497 came into the possession of Daudenzell .

Life

In 1462 Albrecht V fought in the Battle of Seckenheim on the side of the defeated Duke Ulrich V of Württemberg . His brother Georg I fought on the side of the victorious Elector Friedrich I of the Palatinate . Albrecht was held in captivity in the Palatinate until he paid a large ransom two years later. Despite these events, Albrecht was appointed as bailiff in Kreuznach by Elector Philipp , the successor of Friedrich I, in 1488 .

In 1486 Albrecht V and his brother Georg I built a chapel at the foot of the Ravensburg near the Seemühle.

As a member of the knight society with the donkey , he took part in the tournament in Worms in 1487.

Albrecht V. Göler of Ravensburg is named on October 27, 1495, alongside cathedral capitular Johann Kranich von Kirchheim († 1534), as co-owner of the Retscherhaus in Speyer , which they sold to the city on that day.

His grave slab is at the Protestant church in Sulzfeld: it shows in high relief a kneeling, bareheaded knight in armor with hands raised in prayer.

He was the uncle of the Speyer canon David Göler of Ravensburg (1463-1539) and the Rosenthal abbess Barbara Göler of Ravensburg († 1535).
